Flying over the Atlantic Ocean, the airplane reaches a point where, no matter what happens on board, the plane should only fly forward. This means that the airliner flew more than half the way and the distance to the other shore of the ocean is already less than to the place of departure.
It is very similar to our life. The next circle of months of the last year ended and 2020 came. This world is so arranged that the stream of time, like an airliner, carries us only forward. Whatever happens in our lives in 2019, we are not able to go back; to finish something, to fix something, to show love and attention to someone, to take back the carelessly spoken word. All we can do today is look back at the past year to draw conclusions and looking at the coming year, make every effort so that mistakes and shortcomings, all regrets, will not repeat in the coming year.
New Year. In our thoughts, in our calendars, we see a harmonious series of months of the New Year. But they are not ours yet. God gave us 365 days of last year and people believe that it will be so in 2020. But this will not be for everyone. Seven and a half billion people live on earth. In fact, this is just a long line before going to eternity. From birth, every person stands in that line. Someone’s line still long, while someone is already quite short. Every day about 150 thousand people leave for another world. Any person, any day, may be among them.
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12 – the Holy Spirit tells us through the mouth of Moses. May God bless us all in this New Year to have a wise heart. If by His grace, He will grant us to walk the path of the New Year, – remember it without regret for lost time and happily say to our Lord: We did everything we could. If this year comes our turn to stand before the Lord, we would hear the words that all Christians wish to hear: Good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord. May His Holy name be glorified in our lives in 2020 and forever and ever. Our heartfelt gratitude to you for supporting the Mission.
